Via Dinarica Hiking Adventure follows the White Trail through Bosnia and Herzegovina, connecting Zelengora, Maglic, and the ancient Perucica rainforest.
The Via Dinarica Hiking Adventure along the White Trail in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a three-day journey through Zelengora, Maglic, and the untouched Perucica rainforest.
This route is often described by hikers as the most authentic way to experience Bosnia and Herzegovina on foot. It connects some of the most spectacular mountain landscapes of the Dinaric Alps. This three-day hiking journey leads across high ridges and glacial lakes. You will explore ancient forests and remote mountain plateaus. It offers a true experience of wild Balkan nature.
The White Trail of Via Dinarica links seven countries. National Geographic Traveler recognized it as one of the world’s top destinations. One of its most impressive sections runs through Sutjeska National Park. Here, the trail connects the highest and most iconic mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
You hike beneath Maglic and Volujak, the two highest peaks in the country. Between these mountain giants lies Trnovacko Lake. This heart-shaped alpine lake is often described as one of the most beautiful in the Dinaric Mountains. It is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and complete silence. The lake is a natural highlight of the entire route.
At the foot of Maglic, the trail descends into Perucica Rainforest. This is one of the last remaining primeval rainforests in Europe. Walking through Perucica, the forest floor is covered with fallen leaves and moss, and the silence is broken only by birds and flowing water. It is a place where nature has been left entirely to itself.
The adventure continues toward Zelengora, often called the “Queen of Mountains.” It features wide green pastures and gentle terrain. There are eight glacial lakes, known locally as the “mountain eyes.” These lakes offer a completely different atmosphere from the rugged high peaks. Zelengora is a perfect ending to the journey.
Nights are spent in traditional wooden mountain houses. Homemade local food restores your energy after long days on the trail. Transfers across remote mountain roads are done using our off-road vehicles. Our Land Rover and Mitsubishi allow access to the wildest parts of the park.
You can join the adventure from Sarajevo, Mostar, Dubrovnik, or Montenegro. Organized transportation is available for your convenience. For transfer details, feel free to contact us or visit our Transport page.

End of the Via Dinarica Hiking Adventure
I came to Bosnia and Herzegovina several times. I have visited many places, but this is definitely the best tour for me. The most beautiful nature in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We all absolutely enjoyed ourselves. I also want to praise the organizer, the guides, food and accommodation are excellent.
A trail that connects three different mountains. All three places are different, completely different tours. At our request, we wanted to sleep in tents, to feel the nature. Everything is perfectly organized. Thanks to the organizer and I recommend it to everyone.
Adventure BiH took four of us on private 3-day hike around Sutjeska National Park, and it was woderful! I definitely suggest them if you plan to hike in that area, as they can arrange the mountain cabins’ lodging and food for the group as well as the guide to walk you thru the region, which in many cases you would not be able to do on your own.
In a word, phenomenal. All three days were different for us, and we went through the entire Sutjeska National Park. Zelengora, Maglic, Perucica, very beautiful nature. The organizer organized this adventure very well. I recommend it to everyone.
3 days of hiking, I don’t know which one is more beautiful. We really enjoyed all three days in nature, food and accommodation. A well-organized adventure and all praise for the organization.
