Experience the ultimate Tara River rafting adventure through powerful rapids, deep canyon scenery, and the wild beauty of Sutjeska National Park.
This Tara River rafting tour takes you through one of Europe’s deepest canyons, offering powerful rapids, untouched wilderness, and an unforgettable adrenaline-filled experience.
Rafting on the Tara River leads you into Europe’s deepest canyon, where high cliffs, emerald water, and powerful rapids create a raw and unforgettable atmosphere. Second in depth only to the Grand Canyon, this part of the river is what makes rafting on the Tara truly special.
Our rafting route is 20 km long and passes through the most dynamic section of the river. Led by licensed and experienced skippers, you’ll paddle through the most exciting rapids while still having time to enjoy the untouched canyon and crystal-clear water. Between the rapids, the river slows down, creating calm sections perfect for swimming, relaxing, or cliff jumping for those who want more excitement.
The water temperature stays around 12 C throughout the season, but our high-quality neoprene suits guarantee comfort so you can fully enjoy every moment on the river. In some sections, and only with the approval of your skipper, you can even try body rafting—a unique experience of floating through the rapids without the boat.
One of Tara’s most iconic features is its pure emerald color and drinking-quality water, which earned it the name “The Tear of Europe.” As you glide through the canyon, you will hear the powerful sound of water surrounded by complete mountain silence. With a bit of luck, you may spot wildlife such as chamois, deer, or eagles along the cliffs.
Our rafting season lasts from April to the end of October. Spring months (April–May) bring the highest water levels and strongest rapids—these are perfect for adrenaline seekers. Summer months (June–October) bring calmer water levels, making the rafting suitable for beginners and families who want to enjoy the scenery at a relaxed pace.
The total duration of the activity is approximately 5 hours, with the actual rafting experience on the river lasting about 4 hours.
Accommodation is not included in the basic package, but we can organize overnight stays in our camp or mountain huts upon request. Guests can join the tour from Sarajevo, Mostar, Dubrovnik, and Montenegro with our organized transportation. For transfer options, feel free to contact us by email or visit our Transport page.

We requested for a pick-up from Zabljak in the morning, after which we had agreed on a small detour to visit the Tara bridge for some pictures and snacks before we were brought to the starting point of the rafting itself. The rafting was an amazing experience and our guide was very funny and informative. We got to cliff dive and visit some waterfalls and he took a lot of pictures and videos of us which was super nice. After the rafting we had agreed that they would transport us to Sarajevo and we stopped for lunch along the way in a small town. Everything went very smoothly and our driver was very nice. All in all the whole day with all of its transportations etc. was SUPER affordable compared to other options we looked at. I highly recommend these guys they took excellent care of us the whole time!
We spent three beautiful days in your camp. Everything was in the best order from check-in to departure. The food was very tasty and plentiful. The waiters are very professional, helpful and cordial. The camp is very clean.
I could recommend a stay at your place to anyone.
Adventure BIH organization organized a one-day rafting trip for us through the most exciting part of the river. We avoided the crowds on the water in order to feel the peace and quiet. Nice tour.
The experience of the Bulgarian group of 23 from Plovdiv was very impressive. The food was great and very tasty. Our safari trip was impressive to see the forests and canyon. Some of our group went on the zip line for them the experience was great but for the rest it was a bit boring because there were no hikers. But overall it was an unforgettable experience for us.
Fantastic experience. The accommodation was cozy and comfortable, offering a perfect retreat after a day of activities. The food was delicious, with fresh, hearty meals that really hit the spot. The overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a great choice for a quick getaway. Highly recommended!
