The Tara River Rafting Expedition takes you through the entire navigable section of the river. The route starts at the Djurdjevica Tara Bridge. We journey deep into the heart of the canyon. This is a true multi-day adventure with an overnight stay inside the canyon.
The Tear of EuropeThe Tara River, which rises beneath the slopes of the Komovi Mountains, stretches for 140 kilometers and has carved the deepest canyon in Europe over thousands of years. It is the second deepest in the world, just after the Grand Canyon. The river is famous for its emerald-colored water. It is so pure that you can drink it directly. For this reason, Tara is often called the “Tear of Europe.”
The Expedition RhythmThis expedition-style tour is for those who want more than a short trip. It allows you to experience the full rhythm of the canyon. You will find powerful rapids and calm stretches. There are long sections of complete silence. The only sounds are the water and nature. You may spot wild goats or deer along the way.
Natural LandmarksThe Tara River Canyon is rich in natural wonders. You will pass waterfalls, caves, and dramatic rock formations. One unique sight is the Ljutica River. Seasonal Options and LogisticsIn May and June, water levels are higher. The expedition can be organized as a one-day activity then. This version does not include an overnight stay.

Beyond Standard RaftingThis expedition is for those who want more than standard rafting. It combines adventure and immersion into the wild. During May and June, the expedition can be shorter. We can organize it without an overnight stay for guests who prefer it.

Arrival at our base camp, where you will be welcomed by our team and settled into accommodation.
After check-in, there is time to relax, enjoy the natural surroundings, and prepare for the expedition ahead.
In the evening, dinner is served at the camp, followed by a short briefing about the rafting adventure and safety guidelines.

After breakfast, we pack the necessary equipment for the Tara River rafting expedition.
Departure follows with a scenic jeep safari through the impressive canyon landscapes, passing the Piva region and Durmitor area on the way to the rafting starting point near Žabljak. The drive lasts approximately 2.5 hours and already feels like part of the adventure.
Upon arrival, you receive rafting gear and a safety briefing from our licensed skippers. The first rafting section through the Tara River canyon begins shortly after.
While you are rafting, your dry equipment is transported by vehicle to Radovan Luka, where we spend the night deep inside the canyon.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the overnight location.
Dinner is prepared on-site using traditional local ingredients.
Overnight stay is organized either in tents or in a canyon camp, depending on your preference and conditions.
Evening is free for relaxation, enjoying the river sounds and canyon atmosphere.
Breakfast is served in the canyon, followed by packing equipment for the final rafting section.
The second day on the river includes the most exciting part of the Tara River, with more than 30 rapids, crystal-clear water, waterfalls, and untouched canyon scenery.
After completing the full navigable section of the Tara River, we reach the final point where rafting equipment is returned.
Lunch is organized at the camp, followed by rest and departure back toward the starting location.

Rafting adventure lasting two days. Incredibly beautiful nature. A many of waterfalls. The last part was the most exciting.
Last year we were rafting the last 20 km, this year the whole canyon. Nature is different and this is a complete experience. Food and accommodation are excellent. I recommend it to everyone.
Excellent rafting. You can often see wild animals, caves, a beautiful canyon. The guide was also excellent, he knows the canyon very well.
This is the best vacation of my life. No phone, peace, quiet in incredible nature. I’m coming next year too.
