Lukomir village tour + hiking

Lukomir is the highest populated mountain village in Bosnia and Herzegovina at an altitude of 1495 meters above sea level.

Between the mountains of Bjelasnica and Visocica is the Rakitnica Canyon, and the village of Lukomir is situated at the very edge of the canyon and from the village to the lowest point in canyon is an abyss 800 meters deep. The Lukomir village is unique for its stone houses covered with cherry wood shingles. The walls are made of stone and have small windows. Lukomir is known for its traditional clothing, and women still wear knitted garments the same way they were worn centuries ago.

In addition to tour Lukomir village, on this adventure we will hike the mountains which are directly adjacent to the village. During the hiking we will enjoy the view of Lukomir, as well as the highest mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bjelasnica, Visocica, Treskavica… At one of the viewpoint we will take a break with the lunch package.

Based on the village’s stecks ​​dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, it is believed that the village was inhabited few hundreds of years ago. During winter the village is separated from the rest of the world by a high snow cover.
