Village, Canyon, and HistoryThis Lukomir village hiking tour starts with an off-road drive to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s highest traditional village, followed by a hike toward Obalj Peak. Lukomir is nestled between the mountains of Bjelašnica and Visočica. The village lies directly above the dramatic Rakitnica Canyon. This is where the cliff drops more than 800 meters into the depths below. The village is famous for its centuries-old stone houses, narrow windows, and traditional knitted clothing still worn by local women. Many of these customs have remained the same for generations. Lukomir and the dramatic Rakitnica Canyon form part of the UNESCO Tentative List, adding even greater cultural and natural significance to your hiking experience.
The Visit and the HikeUpon arriving in Lukomir village, we will explore its charming streets, learn about its unique way of life, and discover historical traces believed to date back to the 14th and 15th centuries.During winter months, heavy snowfall completely isolates Lukomir from the outside world, which adds to its authenticity.
After the village visit, our adventure continues with a rewarding hike toward the surrounding mountains directly above Lukomir. The trail offers unforgettable views of the village, the vast Rakitnica Canyon, and the highest mountain ranges in Bosnia and Herzegovina—including Bjelasnica, Visocica, and Treskavica. Along the way, we will stop at one of the panoramic viewpoints to enjoy a well-deserved break with a lunch package, surrounded by untouched nature and breathtaking scenery.

A small village, but very beautiful. Nature is really beautiful. We had lunch in the village, the food is great. We also had an organized easy hiking tour.
In this adventure, we visited the highest village in BiH. It is located on the Rakitnica river canyon and is really beautiful. We got to know the local population and their life in the village.
The off road tour to the village of Lukomir delighted me. Excellent views of the canyon of the river Rakitnica and the mountain Bjelašnica. The food is also excellent.
A combination of safari and hiking. Nature is very beautiful. The complaint is that there are not many local residents in the village. The guide was excellent.
