Explore Zelengora Mountain, the “queen of the mountains,” and experience the wild beauty of Sutjeska National Park on this unforgettable hiking tour.
Our Zelengora Mountain Hiking Tour explores Sutjeska National Park, revealing its iconic peaks, glacial lakes, and untouched landscapes.
This Zelengora hiking adventure leads you through one of the most pristine areas of Sutjeska National Park. The journey offers dramatic scenery and unforgettable panoramic views. Many experienced hikers consider Zelengora one of the most beautiful mountains in the Balkans. The Zelengora fully lives up to its name, with wide green pastures, forests, and open high-mountain landscapes spread across its slopes. This area is located within Sutjeska National Park, which is the oldest and largest national park in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One of Zelengora’s greatest treasures are its eight famous glacial lakes, also known as the “mountain eyes” of Zelengora. Scattered across the mountain, these emerald lakes are a paradise for nature lovers. Each lake is framed by steep ridges and rocky slopes that descend straight to the water, creating landscapes that feel raw and untouched. Dense forests, untouched pastures, and pristine wilderness further ensure Zelengora is one of the most unspoiled mountain regions in the Balkans. Zelengora remains quiet and uncrowded, even in summer, making it an ideal place to disconnect from everyday noise. The mountain is home to rare plant species, chamois, eagles, and other alpine wildlife that enhance its authentic wilderness.
Zelengora is breathtaking from every angle. Each viewpoint reveals sweeping panoramas of towering peaks, deep canyons, wild rivers, ancient forests, and flower-covered meadows. The combination of wide views, open terrain, and silence makes this part of Zelengora feel truly remote.
During this adventure, after approximately two hours of hiking, we ascend Bregoc, the highest green peak of Zelengora Mountain. The views from the summit are spectacular, offering a complete panorama over Sutjeska National Park. Subsequently, after reaching the peak, we continue toward one of the mountain’s most beautiful lakes, Orlovacko Lake. Here, visitors often say they feel as if they’ve stepped into a fairy tale.
You can also reserve this activity with an overnight stay in our mountain camp or a wooden hut located on Zelengora. Accommodation is not included by default, but it can be arranged upon request—simply contact us by email.

The mountain is not that popular and we found this tour by chance. But we really enjoyed every moment. Perhaps the best activity in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organization is excellent, I recommend this activity to everyone.
The very name of the mountain means, green mountain. It really is, I felt like I was in New Zealand. The lakes are great. I even swam in the lake.
